Virginia (Ginny) Paternite, Artist
Specializing in Original Oil Painting
I was raised in upstate New York watching my dad paint. I often served as his model when he needed to see a particular gesture or expression. The aroma of oil paint, linseed and turps is forever etched in my childhood memories.
I attended art school at my dad’s urging, but eventually found myself with a masters degree in social studies education and spent the bulk of my career teaching American history. Full-time teaching and raising three children left little time for painting.
Since retiring, with my new-found free time I've immersed myself in painting. I've taken numerous workshops and found a mentor and oil painting instructor in Joyce Hall, a nationally recognized artist and instructor is Charleston, SC. I currently live in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I enjoy painting all subject matter. My work captures the moments when I stop to reflect on the joys of my simple life.
